Set along the banks of the Ventura River, the culturally diverse Westside bubbles with artsy creative energy. In the early mission days, some of Ventura's first settlers built homes here. Later the area became an important agricultural hub and industrial zone.
Today, revitalization projects are enabling the Westside to once again shine. Dozens of artists have established studios and galleries in the neighborhood. Murals and art installations are found along its streets and along the Ventura River (Bike) Trail. The Westside is also home to one of Ventura's most renowned educational and cultural institutions, Brook's Institute.
