Livery Theater

Welcome to the Ventura Improv Company, home of the best comedy improv in historic downtown Ventura, California! VIC is also home to a variety of activities, including improv workshops for adults and youth, movement classes, and special events.

There's so much to do in Ventura. Experiences span everything from elaborate mystery dinners to live theater, kart racing to rock climbing, Chumash Indian history and boat rides to teambuilding, kayaking or hiking at the stunning Channel Islands National Park-also known as "America's Galapagos."

Groups enjoy interacting at The Livery Theatre, a genuine old stable and stagecoach stop-turned improvisation and comedy club; Victorian tea parties or barbecues at Olivas Adobe, an original estate remaining from California's Mexican rancho era; and let's not forget Ventura's Yellow Umbrella Company-a luxurious beach setting under bright yellow umbrellas-reminiscent of a sun-baked setting in the south of France. Other meeting venues include the Murphy Auto Museum, the Ventura County Museum of History & Art and Seaside Park, which is ideal for larger events. Others are delighted to discover that Perry Mason was invented in Ventura. Groups enjoy hunting down the many spots in Ventura that were the basis for settings in the novels and in the television series. Others enjoy high-caliber stage theater that Ventura's Rubicon Theatre Company performs at a charming church-turned-theater; surfing and rock climbing teambuilding activities.

Ventura's charming corners continue to attract the creative offerings of skilled chefs, restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts. Courtyards, balconies, period architecture, sidewalk cafes with live music and food and wine pairings are ready for the taking while fresh local produce and "fruit of the sea" are abundant. Wine bars offer themes such as a champagne and dessert party called "Tiny Bubbles and a Toothache," while yet another activity is Ventura's "progressive ghost dinner," where guests enjoy each course of a meal at a different haunted restaurant-all the while learning about the historic downtown via a walking tour.
