Sandra Clermont and David Pu'u will display their art in a show at Fox Fine Jewelry from July 8 through September 6, 2010. Artists' Reception will be Saturday, July 10th, 6 - 9 pm.
Pu'u is making a rare hometown showing in his worldwide career. After twenty years in the surf industry, Pu'u left his corporate CEO position to be a photographer. He's done well: magazine covers, books, apparel brand artist, and museum shows from Brazil to New York City. Pu'u's breathtaking photography is often shot from the water: in jet skis, helicopters, airplanes and moving vehicles.
A unique duo, Clermont superbly paints Pu'u's photography. Other works by Clermont are of her own creative vision. Clermont, a native of Victoria, Australia, also lived on the tropical islands off the coast of New Guinea, inspiring her for years to come. Her art reflects her loves: surfing, traveling, and art.

Brooks Institute presents "Pressed for Time"
Portraiture is as old as photography itself, but the pace at which portraits are created has greatly accelerated, especially in the commercial and editorial worlds. In these realms, photographers are typically given no more than 30 minutes with their subjects. For Michael Keeney and Jasmine Law, shooting portraits has become more a quick game of drawing out the emotion that they, the photographers, have prepared for in advance than capturing a spontaneous moment of revelation.
Artist Reception: August 25, 5-7:30pm. Refreshments served and free parking for reception.

Mary-Jo Murphy's collection of original works "Whimsical Wags... Where Art Meets Bark" will be exhibiting at the Harbor Village Gallery from Wednesday, August 11 to Sunday, September 5, 2010.
A "pet-friendly" Artist Reception will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 5 - 8pm.
Mary-Jo Murphy's work is simply fun and catchy, bringing smiles and laughter to animal and art admirers. Her subjects are "man's best friends" including; dogs, cats and other animals rendered in a range of colors, full of energy and love. Her work expresses the bond between beloved pets and humans. Looking into the eyes of our pets we feel their compassion and joy. Murphy states, "Their wisdom remains unspoken but not un-communicated." Reminiscent of pop art with an iconic appeal, Murphy's work is composed with fun, solid-color backgrounds and close-ups of the beloved animal's smiling face. Think Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe, but with funky animals as the star of the show! This exhibit joyfully presents Murphy's bold work in acrylics, watercolors, and digital ink-resist.
